2008 The Year of the Big 4-0

Driving to work today, I was reminded that I am turning 40 at the end of October. I think it is time to set goals and celebrate.

What have you done to celebrate a birthday milestone?

Aw, you're still a baby Michele! I didn't take up martial arts until I was 44.

My wife took me out to a weekend at a beach hotel for my 40th.

She threw herself a huge party for her 50th.

My 50th slipped by quietly. I was waiting to throw a big combined party for my 50th and my black belt, then I got injured at the test....

I tried to ignore my 39th as much as possible in January--that being said, I'm hitting the Big 4-0 just 3 months after you.

I think at 40 I'll be celebrating my first full year of returning to Karate, after this 7-month hiatus.

Bob,
I think your wife had a good idea ... maybe I will throw myself a party in October.

Hack Shaft,
Happy belated 39th! I think I have been ignoring birthdays from 35 on up. I am planning to celebrate the Big 4-0, I am just not sure how.

I'll be 38 this year and I've decided that since I am dealing with more physically this year than ever before (had my acl surgery last week) that I want to be stronger and more fit than I have been on any other birthday--EVER. (I have until November to accomplish this.) I have a new appreciation for my body, can't wait to get back to the gym and plan to only make this experience make me stronger. Maybe I'll start calling travel agents around my birthday to book my NEXT ski trip. I refuse to let this injury end my love affair with the slopes.
